The capital of the Karen (Kayin) State, Hpa An is a picturesque and laid back town that sits on the eastern bank of the Thanlwin (Salween) river, about 270 kilometres east of Yangon. The setting itself, its teahouses and the Karen Cultural Museum are some of the highlights of the town.
